The Journey from Java to Android in Uganda

The Migration from Java phones to Android

Uganda is one of the country in East Africa growing into smartphone community,penerations usage among the masses especially youth at university and high school.
Brands on the market include;

  • samsung
  • alcatel
  • Nokia
  • Tecno
  • Hauwei
  • ZTE
  • HTC
  • Sony Ericsson
  • and so many more
    So mobile manufacturing companies should start making their way to the virgin Ugandan market as consumers transition from java phones to smartphones to get their work done remotely especially office work and education study.

    But to make a break through these companies should get base in kampala the capital city of the Uganda and also advertise heavy on media such is print and Radio stations cause the problem faced is sacristy of phones on the local market and most traders are forced to source them from kenya, which makes it costly and expensive since the traders are taxed and they pass on the taxes to the consumer.
    This forces consumers with no option but to turn to the available network locked phones belonging to Telecom companies on the market. These branded products are either substandard or come with bundled packages creating a problem of phone call drops . Companies like warid telecom enjoy monopolies and expolitation of the mass.
